Shayla joined KY3 in May 2013 as a multimedia journalist.  She came to us from KSN News, the NBC affiliate station in Joplin, where she worked as a general assignment reporter and covered everything from crime to tornado recoveries.

Shayla is no stranger to the Ozarks.  She attended Missouri State University, where she played four years on the volleyball team.  She graduated in 2010 with a degree in Journalism and a minor in Spanish.

Bitten by the news bug at an early age, Shayla worked as the editor of the entertainment section of her high school newspaper in Solon, Ohio.   While attending MSU, she got her first experience in broadcasting by being part of the university's TV News show "Ozarks News Journal."  She also interned at KSPR while in college.  These experiences heightened Shayla’s passion for journalism and influenced her decision to pursue a career in the field.

Shayla is thrilled to be back in Springfield. As a multimedia journalist, she often will write, shoot, and edit her own stories.  Shayla looks forward to covering stories that matter to the people in this community, making new friends and getting to know the area.

Shayla enjoys reading, running, playing volleyball, traveling and spending time with her dog, Eddie.
