Sara Sheffield

By (BI) Jay LaPlante

Sara was born and raised in Fort Gibson Okla. She says reporting seems to be in her blood. Her mother has always said she has never met a stranger and her friends accuse her of asking tons of questions about every situation and to every person she meets.

After high school, Sara went to Washington, D.C., to work as an intern for Dr. Tom Coburn (now a U.S. senator from Oklahoma) when he was a U.S. representative. While in D.C., she attended news conferences and took notes for the congressman. It was then that she decided she wanted to be a reporter.

Sara attended Oklahoma State University and studied broadcast journalism and political science. After graduation, she began her television journalism career at a CBS affiliate in Sherman, Texas, near the Oklahoma border.

Sara was an intern at KY3 News while in college and jumped at the chance to return to the Ozarks in February 2005. She found it easy to make the transition from Oklahoma's Green Country to the Ozarks.

In her spare time, Sara enjoys playing soccer and basketball. She loves snow boarding and spending time at the lake. On the weekends, you can find her at OSU sporting events and church.

Sara says the best part about her job is the people who allow her to come into their lives for a time and tell their stories.

Sara married KY3 News anchor Ethan Forhetz on April 21.
