Chad joined the KY3 News team in January 2007, moving to Springfield from Joplin. A native Missourian, Chad has completed his "counter-clockwise” tour of the Show-Me State.
He began his career in St. Louis as a sports producer at KSDK-TV. Chad then moved to St. Joseph in 2002 to become a news reporter. A few months later, he became the sports director. After two years at KQTV, Chad moved south to Joplin to be sports director at KOAM-TV. Chad also has a radio background. He produced and had some on-air segments at ESPN Radio in St. Louis during the late 90s.
Through the years, Chad has earned Missouri Broadcasters Association and Kansas Broadcasters Association awards, as well as being nominated for two Mid-America Emmy Awards. Always looking for a challenge, Chad decided to move back into news after eight years in sports. In recent years Chad's had a few stories air on CNN.
"The Ozarks have the prime fishing spots in the state,” Chad said.
Since he was a kid, he and his dad would travel to Lebanon for trout and his dad caught everything while Chad was “skunked” often. Chad also roots in the Ozarks with family from Dixon and Vienna.
Chad and his wife, Cati, welcomed their first child, Coy Michael, on May 7, 2007 -- or second child, if you count their spoiled dog, Biscuit.
“Adopting a pet and saving its life is one of the most rewarding things a person can do," he said.
Although he’s not covering sports anymore, Chad is still a diehard St. Louis Cardinals fan and looks forward to attending sporting events around the Ozarks.
