Dave is a degreed meteorologist with more than 13 years experience in
analyzing, diagnosing and forecasting weather and covering scientific news and features across the country. He joined the KY3 StormTeam in July 2005. His forecasts are regularly on KY3 News at Noon on Friday, KY3 News at 6 and 10 on Saturday and KY3 News at 5 and 10 on Sunday.

Dave is a native of Florissant, North St. Louis County, Missouri, where he attended McCluer North High School. Dave went on to study at Parks College of Saint Louis University, where he earned a B.S. in Aeronautics, with an emphasis in Meteorology.

Dave began working in broadcast meteorology with KJCT-TV in Grand Junction, Colorado, as Chief Meteorologist, where he forecasted for eastern Utah and western Colorado. In 1997, Dave moved across the Continental Divide to the base of Pikes Peak when he joined KRDO-TV in Colorado Springs. There he faced the challenging weather of Colorado’s Front Range.

Dave comes to KY3 from News 14 Carolina in Raleigh, N.C. He covered the weather every 10 minutes and, in doing so, saw his fair share of thunderstorm outbreaks, tornadoes, tropical storms, hurricanes and winter weather nightmares.

Dave is a member of the American Meteorological Society and holds the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval. In April 2004,
he  was recognized for the Best Coverage of a Hurricane from his peers at the Bahamas Tropical Weather Conference for his coverage of Hurricane Isabel making landfall in North Carolina. In 2008, Dave was selected as one of Springfield Business Journal's 40 Under 40 Class of 2008 for outstanding service to the community and in his profession.

Dave is passionate about supporting the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and is a regular host for the event at Hillcrest High School each spring. He also visits area schools, businesses and churches almost every week and shares weather safety information and fun facts about our Ozarks weather.

You may see Dave on the sidelines at Lake Country Soccer, where he coaches the Wild Hogs, a part of the Christian County Rush Soccer organization. He also volunteers time to the Ozark School District Planning group.

Dave loves to be outdoors. His greatest outdoor achievement was climbing 12 of Colorado’s “14ers” including Colorado’s tallest peak, Mt. Elbert, which is 14,433 feet above sea level.

Dave and his wife have backpacked in the Colorado wilderness and in the Smoky Mountains. They enjoy bird-watching, gardening, skiing, camping, exploring country roads, and eating Wicker’s barbecue. And don’t be surprised if you run into Dave and his family on Lake Taneycomo reeling in a limit of trout. Dave and his wife have two sons.
