Our internship programs are unpaid and all applicants must be enrolled in a course that grants credit for the internship.

Department: Community Relations
What they do: Public Service/Community Relations

Skills to be acquired through Community Relations: Intern will learn basic public relations skills including but not limited to: script writing, editing, maintaining public service in a television station traffic system, communication and research. Intern will also assist Community Relations Director in development of new public service projects.

What they do: Branding/Image/Promote Station Programs and Events 
Maximum Number of Interns per Semester: 1

Skills to be acquired through Promotions: Intern will learn marketing techniques, production processes, on-air spot management, script writing, some electronic editing, network affiliations and obligations, and public relations by assisting in organizing and executing public events.

Department: Production
Areas of Operation: Studio, Remote Services, Editing and Graphic Design 

Skills to be acquired through Studio: Intern will learn basic studio production skills that include but are not limited to camera operation, floor directing, studio lighting design, set design, and teleprompting for all news and commercial production. Intern will also assist other members of the production department on various projects throughout the semester.

Skills to be acquired through Remote Production Services: Intern will learn basic remote services skills that include but are not limited to field camera set up and operation, lighting, teleprompting, audio operation, and technical directing with our remote truck. The intern will be setting up for remote events such as multi-camera sporting events, variety shows and other multi-camera events. The intern will also assist our field commercial photographer with various projects and commercial shoots on location. The intern will be required to lift heavy equipment and must be able to pull heavy cables.

Skills to be acquired through Editing: Intern will learn basic editing skills both with linear and non-linear editing systems. The intern will assist editors and directors with various projects throughout the semester.

Areas of Operation: Producing, Reporting, Photography and Weather
Maximum Number of Interns per Semester: 5

Skills to be acquired through Producting: Intern will learn basic newscast producing skills including but not limited to: story placement, story treatment, writing, tease writing, time management, video/audio editing, newscast communication, and research; intern will also assist news staff in development of stories and assigned projects.

Skills to be acquired through Reporting: Intern will learn basic reporting skills including but not limited to: research, writing, interviewing, use of video and sound, time management, team communication, and storytelling; intern will also assist news staff in development of stories and assigned projects.

Skills to be acquired through Videography: Intern will learn basic broadcast news photojournalism skills including but not limited to: composition, lighting, sound, time management, editing (linear and non-linear), team communication, research and storytelling; intern will also assist news staff in development of stories and assigned projects.

Skills to be acquired through Weather: Intern will basic forecasting skills including but not limited to: understanding of fronts, weather systems, StormTracker 3 Live Doppler Radar and other weather technology; intern will also assist meteorology staff with assigned projects.
