Jerry Jacob

Jerry grew up on a farm near Ste. Genevieve, Mo.  He attended the University of Missouri School of Journalism.  After school, he worked in Washington and Florida before returning to Missouri as sports director at KSPR in Springfield for two years.

He then returned to the farm before being lured out of early retirement in 1995 to work at KY3, where he was a weekend newscast producer and reporter, and then a newscast anchor.  Some of his memorable stories at KY3 included one on fainting goats and a Watusi steer with world record-sized horns.

After the terrorists struck our country in 2001, Jerry felt an urge to do something for his country.  He finally got his chance four years later when the Army briefly raised its maximum enlistment age to 42.  In January 2007, just before that milestone in his life, he quit broadcasting and enlisted.

While in the Army, Jerry served deployments in Iraq, Haiti and Afghanistan, and advanced to the rank of sergeant.  He returned to Springfield in late 2011 at the end of his five-year commitment to the Army, although he'll continue to be eligible for recall if his country needs him.

Jerry rejoined KY3 News in February 2012.  He'll cover politics and other topics, and do special projects.
