Mike Landis

Mike Landis joined KY3 in the spring of 2010, but he was no stranger to the Ozarks.

"I was born right here in Springfield, and am proud to have grown up in the surrounding area," Mike explained.  "I grew up watching KY3, and am honored to have made the transition from viewer to reporter," he laughed.

Mike claims to be a lifelong news junkie, always interested in the 'goings-on' of the world around him. 

"I blame getting bitten by the broadcasting bug on a field trip to KY3 I took with my second grade class," he admits.

 Many years later, Mike finally made his break into broadcasting by working at his college campus radio station.  

 "I wore several hats," he admitted. "From news man, to commercial announcer, to disc jockey- you name it."

 After a two-year stint with a radio program in sunny California, Mike made his way back home in 2005.  That's when he joined KTTS radio as a news reporter and anchor.  During his time there, he also served as storm chaser, traffic reporter, and host of the weekly "Cracker Barrel"talk show.

In 2008, Mike embarked on a new adventure by making the switch to television.  He joined KQTV, the ABC affiliate in St. Joseph, MO as a reporter and anchor.

"Growing-up with the 'crazy' weather of the Ozarks definitely prepared me for my time in northwest Missouri," Mike joked.  "I covered everything from the flooding of the Missouri River, to one of the worst winter blizzards to hit the region in years.  I promised myself I'd never again complain about Springfield's winters!"

While at KQ2, Mike covered city government, politics, and business.  He was honored with a Missouri Broadcasters Association award for an investigative piece he did on the impacts wind-energy farms have on neighboring small towns and ranches.

Mike is happy to now be back in Springfield, and is proud to be a part of the KY3 family.

"At the risk of dating myself, I'd like to borrow a former slogan from our station in saying, "It's great to 'come home to KY3!'"
