•<b> Describe your latest book</b> My latest book, "Her Baby's Father," is about a woman who is killed in a car crash. Instead of escorting her to heaven, angels send her back in time 10 months and give her a chance to save the man she loves from being murdered. But as she tries to deal with events, the reality that she remembers shifts and changes. The book is set in Ellicott City and other parts of Howard County, and the location plays a major role in the story.

•<b> Why write? What makes writing a book worthwhile?</b> If you're a writer, it's impossible NOT to write. It's part of who I am. I love creating stories and characters who are as real to me as the world around me.

•<b> How, if at all, has growing up and/or living in the Baltimore area influenced your writing?</b> I grew up in Washington, D.C., and moved to Columbia, Md. My parents were both from Baltimore. Because I wanted to find out more about the city, I started a Harlequin Intrigue romantic suspense series called "43 Light Street," a fictitious address. (It's about where the fire station is located on Light Street.) If you move into the office building, someone will come at you with a knife or a gun, and you will get involved in a romantic relationship that ties into the suspense and danger elements of the story.

•<b> Is the written word in trouble? Are authors an endangered breed?</b> I hope not. I think e-books have given the written word a new lease on life.

•<b> What's your next project? </b>I'm getting ready to publish one of my Decorah Security novels. Decorah Security is a detective agency located in Beltsville. All of the agents either have paranormal powers or take on paranormal cases. The latest book, "Dark Powers," is coming out in October. The hero, Ben Walker, was a detective in the Baltimore PD who was shot in a drug bust. He had a near-death experience and came back with the ability to touch a dead body and get the person's last memories. In "Dark Powers," he's hired to help a woman find her sister who has been kidnapped in a small town on the Eastern Shore. I call it Doncaster, but it looks a lot like St. Michaels. As they investigate Laura Baker's disappearance, sinister forces conspire to interfere with their investigation.
