( Algerina Perna, Baltimore Sun / September 30, 2012 ) It could have been even cooler had the Los Angeles Angels lost on the big screen on that Sunday afternoon. But what a surreal scene it was Sept. 30 when the Orioles beat the Boston Red Sox and then the team assembled on the field to watch the Jumbotron's showing of the Los Angeles Angels-Texas Rangers game. The Angels were down to their last out before rallying and staying alive in the playoff hunt for a few more hours. The Orioles players and fans stayed in the stadium waiting to see if the Angels would lose ¿ clinching a playoff spot for the Orioles. It didn't happen that way and they didn't learn of their clinching until later that night after an emergency landing of their team plane. But the fact that so many fans stayed to watch someone else's game while the Orioles' turned into the role of fans was pretty cool. |
