( US Presswire / September 26, 2012 ) Doing the math: The Orioles may have helped themselves Wednesday night by snapping a two-game losing streak, but they got no help from anybody else in the AL East and AL Wild-Card races. The Yankees maintained their 1 1/2-game lead with an easy win over the Twins, the Rays kept hope alive by beating the Red Sox, the A's beat the Rangers and Felix Hernandez could not stop the surging Angels. Still, the top wild-card spot is the O's to lose. With six games left, they hold a half-game lead over the A's, who still have four of their seven remaining games against the Rangers, and a 2 1/2-game lead over the Angels, who are the first team on the outside looking into the wild-card picture. If the O's go 3-3 the rest of the way, the Angels would have to win all seven of their remaining games to overtake them. |
