Wilson College
CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — Brian Ecker has been named vice president for finance and administration at Wilson College.
Ecker joined Wilson on Dec. 12. He most recently served as comptroller at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md. Before that, he served Mount St. Mary's as director of accounting and business operations for eight years, and director of accounting for four years.
Ecker has also been an adjunct faculty member at Mount St. Mary's for nearly 10 years, teaching classes in accounting, and financial reporting and control.
Previously, he worked for Central Pennsylvania Legal Services, Intellex Corp. and Hanover (Pa.) General Hospital.
He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from Penn State and a Master of Business Administration from Mount St. Mary's. He received the Mount St. Mary's Presidents Award and Presidential Scholarship Award in 2005, and is a Healthcare Financial Management Association Fellow.
Ecker replaces Jim Fisher, who left Wilson last spring after serving several years in the post.
Ecker lives in Hanover with his wife, Karen, and son, Henry.
MNET Mortgage Corp.
FREDERICK, Md. — Mark Ebinger joined MNET Mortgage Corp. as branch manager of the Frederick office at 5235 Westview Drive, Suite 100.
Ebinger has been in the mortgage business for 19 years, working for what became MetLife Home Loans, where he managed the Frederick and Hagerstown branches, and was recognized as a top producer, earning him President's Club and Chairman's Circle status each year. In 2002, he was the top producer for retail volume in the entire Northeast division, settling $91.6 million. In 2003, with no assistant or team, he closed $123,500,000 in loan volume and 810 units — a level of production that to date no one has surpassed in the Northeast division.
Ebinger has been one of the top-10 producers for the entire company, which has 700 to 1,000 loan officers, for five of the last 10 years. In total since 2001, he has closed almost $700 million in mortgage loans.
He has been a preferred lender for area builders such as Woodbridge Homes, Oliver Homes, Kent Briddell and H.F. Payne. He spent almost 10 years being a preferred lender for Ausherman Homes, until the company was sold in 2003.
Embrace Home Loans
ROCKVILLE, Md. — Mortgage lender Embrace Home Loans recently hired two loan officers in its Frederick, Md., office.
David McBride of Hagerstown, who came to Embrace after working at Primary Residential Mortgage and Benchmark Mortgage. He has been in the mortgage-lending industry for more than a decade.
Charlene Johnson of Frederick, who has more than 20 years of real estate and mortgage experience. She most recently worked at M&T Bank as a senior loan officer and has received numerous customer-service awards during her career.
Shepherd University
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Three Shepherd University student-affairs staff members recently received promotions.
• David B. Cole Jr. of Williamsport was named dean of students. He will serve as the senior student conduct officer for Shepherd and will work with university police, lead the institution's behavioral-intervention initiatives, and serve as a liaison with parents, students, faculty and staff on student-behavior issues.
Cole earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College, and a Master of Arts in psychology from Hood College. He has worked at Shepherd for 15 years in various capacities, including assistant dean of students, assistant director of physical plant, financial aid counselor, residence life hall director, head women's softball coach and assistant baseball coach. Cole is a member of the Shepherd Athletic Hall of Fame. He worked at Hagerstown Community College for 13 years as director of student services and student activities coordinator.
• Holly Morgan Frye of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., was named assistant vice president for student affairs for student engagement. She will provide leadership and supervision for student-affairs programming and will oversee the Washington Gateway Program, crisis management and disaster preparedness, student-affairs communications and student engagement, in addition to overseeing the student community services and service-learning program at Shepherd.
Frye holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications from Western Maryland College, now McDaniel College, and a Master of Arts in college student development and administration from Shepherd University. Frye has worked at Shepherd for 12 years, most recently as director of student community services and student learning for 10 years and as coordinator of alumni affairs for two years.
• Christana J. Johnson of Stephens City, Va., was named assistant vice president for student affairs for student success. She will supervise the student health center and counseling services, coordinate professional development and assessment efforts for the division of student affairs, and oversee multicultural student affairs and disability support services.
Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and ethnic studies from Cornell College in Iowa, a Master of Science in education leadership and policy studies from Iowa State University, and is working toward a doctorate in college and university leadership from Colorado State University. She has served as the director of multicultural student affairs and disability support services at Shepherd for six years. Johnson also served as the assistant dean of students/director of intercultural life at Cornell College and as director of student activities at St. Olaf College in Minnesota.
