( December 20, 2011 ) Dr. Joan Boomsma has been named chief medical officer at Access Community Health Network. Boomsma, a pulmonary and critical care physician, brings more than 20 years experience in the health care field and executive management to the position. She spent several years in a full-time academic practice at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She also has held numerous leadership positions, including intensive care unit diirector, fellowship program director, clinical practice director and associate chief of service. For the past several years, Boomsma has served in hospital senior management positions, focusing on hospital and medical staff quality improvement initiatives, care management and physician-hospital relationships at Advocate Condell Medical Center, St. Francis Hospital & Health Center, Holy Cross Hospital and Mercy Hospital & Medical Center. She has a bachelor's degree from Calvin College, an M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School and and MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. |
