( January 7, 2013 ) Mike Priefer. He worked with Bears general manager Phil Emery at Navy in the mid-90s. Priefer played quarterback and wide receiver at Navy and then flew helicopters as a Naval officer for six years. He had tours of duty in the Persian Gulf and the Mediterranean Sea. Regarded as one of the NFL's best special teams coaches, Priefer been an assistant in the NFL for 11 years, the last two with the Vikings. He also was an assistant at Northern Illinois 2000-2001. Special teams coaching is in Priefer's blood, as his father Chuck was a longtime NFL special teams coach who was held in high esteem around the league. |
