A daughter, Savannah Nicole Smith, was born to Brandi and David Smith of Boyne City at 3:28 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at McLaren Northern Michigan hospital in Petoskey. Savannah weighed 7 pounds, 18 ounces and was 18 inches long at birth. Grandparents are Robin McCready of Boyne City, Sean Mallory of Harbor Springs, and Ronald Smith of Norway.
A daughter, Haylee Jo Maschino, was born to Derek and Georgia Maschino of Boyne City at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at McLaren Northern Michigan hospital in Petoskey. Haylee weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces and was 18 1/4 inches long at birth. Grandparents are George and Vivian Turnbull, and Stephanie and Rocky Maschino.

The Wawatam Area Senior Center winter hours for congregate meals are 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 1 p.m. Sunday. The center is open every day at noon for recreation, Wii, card games and use of computers (Internet service). The center is located on Cedar Street in Mackinaw City.
There will be a presentation on cancer survivorship at the Petoskey Friendship Center at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31. Rita Miller, RN and Amy Juneau, LMSW from McLaren Northern Michigan will speak about cancer survivorship -- what is it, who are survivors, dimensions of survivorship, and transitions into wellness. They will also discuss adjustment to cancer and supportive services for survivors. All seniors and their families are welcome to attend.
