After 150 years, SPS superintendent says district must keep changing

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. The Springfield school district is celebrating 150 years.

Education leaders gathered Thursday at Central High School for the State of the School Address. The event was a way to celebrate and talk about how the district has changed over the years.

Dr. John Jungmann said this school year SPS will honor the districts history while looking at how to shape the future.

"Schools have to change, they have to evolve over time in order to meet the needs of our learners. And I think our community understands that, embraces it and showed that today," he said.

This school year is the third and final year of the district's Ignite initiative. That means the final group of 16 schools will be equipped with technology.
