BAXTER COUNTY, Ar. -- The Baxter County Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting incident Wednesday afternoon. One man sustained a gunshot wound to his neck and was transported to a local hospital.
The shooting occurred at a residence east of Mountain Home, Arkansas. Deputies responded to the hospital to make contact with the man who had been shot and also to the house to make contact with the person who discharged the weapon.
Brian Hand, 58, of Baxter County had gone to the residence and was instructed by Arthur Macleod, 65, and his wife to leave the property. Hand refused to leave and began making threats against them.
Macleod retrieved a rifle which he thought was unloaded to convince Hand to leave his residence. According to Macleod, the rifle accidentally discharged and struck Hand in the neck. Hand was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
No criminal charges will be filed against Arthur Macleod.
