SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Chestnut Expressway between Belcrest Avenue and Ingram Mill Road, just west of U.S. 65, will be closed on Monday and Tuesday nights, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Contractor crews are installing a water line across Chestnut.
Crews ran into rock when installing the new line. That delayed progress with this part of the project.
Here's the detour:
o For eastbound traffic: Belcrest to Cairo Street to Union Avenue to Cherry Street to Ingram Mill Road
o For westbound traffic: Ingram Mill to Cherry to Union to Cairo to Belcrest
During the daytime, drivers may notice a bump on Chestnut where crews have laid steel plates on the road to let traffic travel over the trenching used to install the water lines.
This is part of the project to build a bridge on Chestnut over the BNSF railroad tracks west of U.S. 65. The $14.8 million project will last until late 2017.
