1 rescued in fire at Springfield apartment complex

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Firefighters say a child was rescued at a fire at a Springfield apartment complex.

The fire started shortly before 2 p.m. at the John B. Hughes apartment complex. That complex is located in the 2100 block of North Clifton Avenue. The fire damaged building six. Firefighters evacuated that building. Firefighters quickly contained the fire.

We are awaiting word on what caused the fire. The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced.
