Firefighters evacuate Hollister condos for car fire

HOLLISTER, Mo. -- Firefighters evacuated the Candy Mountain Condominiums in Hollister Thursday after a car fire got too close.

The Western Taney County Fire Protection District Chief says the driver of the vehicle realized she was having car problems and pulled into the parking lot, next to the building. When she opened the hood, she saw flames.

Because it was so close to the building, crews responded to a call of a structure fire just before 10 a.m. Firefighters evacuated the complex because the fire got too close.

The fire damaged one part of the building. The owner of the apartment building says there appears to be no smoke damage inside the units.

Nobody was hurt in the fire.
