Firefighters investigate cause of house fire in Newburg

NEWBURG, Mo. -- The state fire marshal's office is investigating a house fire in Newburg.

Fire crews from Doolittle Rural Fire Department and Rolla Rural Fire Protection District responded to the fire around 2:15 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Main Street and West First Street. Firefighters say the one-story wood-frame home was 100 percent engulfed.

Firefighters used a defensive attack to quickly knock down the fire. Crews remained on the scene for about three hours. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
