Springfield, MO In this week's Fit Friday-- It's an exercise so easy, a kid can do it. Trainer Jay Johnson is here with a jump rope workout. It quickly kicks up your heart rate and Johnson says you can burn nearly 600 calories in a half hour!
The faster you go, the more calories you burn. Start with both feet, and then switch to one foot. Then change to the other. These simple changes engage your core muscles for balance. Jump side to side or jog with "high knees." It's all about pacing and balance.
The jump ropes we used cost less than $10 at Academy Sports. You can buy weighted ones for a little more of a workout. Those can cost you about $20.
