CONTACT KY3 ALERT: Free Springfield Fire Department extinguishers part of recall

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. If you received a free fire extinguisher from the Springfield Fire Department, you will want to take a look at it. It could be part of a recall we told you about a few weeks ago.

Kidde recalled 40 million fire extinguishers because of a clogging issue. Springfield Fire says if you received an extinguisher from August 2016 to August 2017, you could have a defective model. There have been about 391 reports of these extinguishers malfunctioning, including one instance where someone died and 16 instances where someone was hurt.
Kidde is recalling fire extinguishers from 1973-2017, so any fire extinguishers you have, should be checked.
