SPRINGFIELD, Mo. The weather held up for another big day in downtown Springfield for the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival.

That was good news, with the extra incentive for the crowds to get out and enjoy the festivities for the 7th annual celebration of the mother road.

Events kicked off Saturday morning with the aptly-named 6.6 K run, and the big car show, with hundreds of classic cars and trucks. There is also all kinds of exhibits and food and music and other family events going on.

The event keeps growing every year.

Earlier, organizers told us this year has been a huge success with.record breaking numbers.

Things will wind down Saturday night with a big concert.

1960s and 70s band Three-Dog Night will play at the Gillioz starting at 8pm, capping off what has looked to be another great year for the Birthplace of Route 66 Fesitval.
