Police standoff in East Springfield ends peacefully

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- A police standoff in East Springfield ended peacefully Friday morning.
Springfield Police Chief Paul Williams tweeted, "Peaceful resolution to armed/barricaded situation on E University: suspect in custody and kids found safe."

Earlier in the morning, a Springfield Police spokeswoman says their Special Response Team was trying to make contact with a suspect in an armed robbery. She also said children were believed to be inside the home.

This was happening on the 2800 block of East University, which is north of Sunshine, just west of Highway 65.

About ten police cars and one ambulance were there.
