Hickory County Sheriff Brian Whalen was investigating a call about a cow being out on a road about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday. As the sheriff was getting the cow back into the fence, he noticed people in an abandoned house. The man and woman fled in a 1992 Dodge Dakota that was painted flat black. Sheriff Whalen gave chase along with some of his deputies.
