Springfield firefighter struck by vehicle Saturday morning

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) A Springfield firefighter went to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a vehicle while on the scene of a separate crash on Saturday morning.

According to Springfield police, the driver of an SUV traveling west on James River Freeway between Kansas Expy. and Campbell Ave., came to an abrupt stop, lost control, drove though the median and struck the firefighter who was in the eastbound lanes.

The firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the SUV was not hurt. Police could not comment on whether a citation was issued to the driver.
