PICTURES: Zoo reveals sexes, names of baby cheetahs

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - It's two boys and a girl for a momma cheetah at the Dickerson Park Zoo. The sexes of the cubs were revealed at a party on Tuesday morning.

The zoo also revealed the names of the cubs born last month: Wally, Glenn and Maggie. Their mother's name is Roni.

Keepers have not decided when the cubs will make their first public appearances. Zoo veterinarian Dr. Rodney Schnellbacher recently gave the cubs their first exam.

“They will have a follow up exam in about two weeks, but everything looks good,” Schnellbacker said in a news release.

Cheetah, an endangered species, is one of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ SAFE (Saving Animals from Extinction) Signature Species. Fewer than 10,000 cheetahs are in the wild and around 30 are in AZA accredited zoos.

"We are very proud to be one of the zoos to help this population grow," said zookeeper Sheila Samek, in a news release.
