ROLLA, Mo. - Emerson Hall at Missouri University of Science and Technology is closed until further notice following a fire on its roof on Thursday. University officials decided to keep Emerson Hall closed following a thorough inspection of the building.

Inspectors found no structural damage to Emerson Hall but have concerns about air quality in several areas. The building’s parking lot also is closed until further notice to let cleaning crews get into the building.

Final examinations previously scheduled at Emerson Hall on Monday are rescheduled and relocated to other buildings on campus. Classes and final examinations will continue as normal throughout next week.

An air conditioner unit on the roof caused the fire, which started about 12:40 p.m. Thursday and was out within two hours.
