Arsonists keep firefighters busy near Camdenton

CAMDENTON, Mo. - Arsonists using four-wheel all-terrain vehicles have set several wildfires in fallen leaves along roads in Camden County this week. Law enforcement officers are trying to find out who’s doing it.

Mid County Fire Protection District Chief Scott Frandsen says his department put out several fires on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Some fires were along Highway D southwest of Camdenton in the Ha Ha Tonka State Park area, but three others were along county roads.

Frandsen said no buildings were damaged, but a witness sent an email message to the newsroom that says a trailer home off Highway D would have burned if neighbors hadn’t saved it before firefighters arrived about 20 minutes later.

Frandsen said the Camden County Sheriff’s Department opened an investigation, and anyone with information can call that department.
