( Photo by Yelp user Alex S. ) The two men who run the truck are from Puebla, Mexico, and are always cheerful, which is impressive given the truck's hours -- they open at 9pm and serve up food until 4am. They have great tacos with tons of toppings for $2 each (the prices may have gone up since I lived there) -- I recommend getting the carne asada tacos and telling them to put everything on them, which includes onions, cilantro, lettuce, peppers, and scorching red and green hot sauces on soft, warm tortillas. They also have huge tortas and burritos for about $5 each. It's really fresh, authentic Mexican food, which is surprisingly hard to find in New York -- plus, it's right outside of a great pub called The Courtyard, which has very cheap drinks and friendly Irish bartenders. A lot of Sunnyside residents get their tacos and then head into the Courtyard for a drink, and overall it just makes for one of the friendliest New York experiences you'll have while visiting the city. -- Zoe Galland |
