Downey is dynamic choice to play superhero Iron Man

Summer begins this weekend as far as Hollywood is concerned with Iron Man, the year's first big action blockbuster. If that sound too testosterone-intense, or just too goofy, then check out the equally-goofy Made of Honor.

Iron Man is based on the old Marvel Comics tome about the devil-may-care industrialist Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr. While in the Middle East promoting his military weaponry, terrorists kidnap him.

Stark decides to combat his captors with a suit that makes him indestructible. After his escape, he decides to enhance the suit so he can fight the forces of evil.

While this is not one of the more recognizable comic book heroes, Iron Man has an interesting history and Downey is a dynamic choice for a superhero. Actor turned director Jon Favreau (Elf) has a style that we don't see in these types of movies.

Iron Man is rated PG-13 for some intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, and brief suggestive content.

If you want something completely predicable and trite, McDreamy Patrick Dempsey headlines Made of Honor. He plays a wild bachelor who decides he loves his best friend, played by Michelle Monaghan.

Wouldn't you know that when he decides to settle down, she finds someone else to marry. And she wants him to be the Maid of Honor? See! The title's a play on words!

But will McDreamy somehow find a way to show his friend that he's the one or will he learn that he needs to get over his own selfishness. Oh my Gosh! What difference does it make?

But it does make for some good counter-programming so, when Iron Man is sold out, check out Made of Honor. It's rated R for sexual content and language.
