If you think Hollywood is out of ideas, check out Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, a sequel from a movie about a bunch of toys, or the book adaptation, My Sister's Keeper.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is Michael Bay's sequel to the 2007 blockbusting movie about a young man, as played by charming drunken driver Shia LaBeouf, who finds out his precious car is actually an intergalactic robot in a centuries long battle between good and evil. LaBeouf is back, along with luscious Megan Fox and delightfully weird John Turturro.
This film has a massively complicated back story but all you need to know is good machines will fight bad machines and there will be lots of action and lots of explosions. Sadly what there isn't is some of the magic and charm of watching LaBeouf engage in that all-so-American ritual of bonding with his car.
Transformers is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, language, some crude and sexual material, and brief drug material.
If depressing is what you want, depressing is what you'll get with My Sister's Keeper. A younger couple, as played by Cameron Diaz (it's always nice to see her) and Jason Patrick, have a second child, as played by Abigail Breslin, for the sole purpose of saving the life of their first child.
Little Kate has leukemia and such an arrangement raises several ethical issues. Breslin's character determines she no longer wishes to be a part of this so she hires a lawyer to ask for medical emancipation -- or whatever.
The film is based on the best-selling novel by Jodi Picoult and is sure to pull on every heart string you've got. My Sister's Keeper is rated PG-13 for mature thematic content, some disturbing images, sensuality, language and brief teen drinking.
