For the masses, there's the Vince Vaughn laffer Couple's Retreat and The Moxie in Springfield has the darkly funny Patton Oswalt vehicle Big Fan.

The film has some funny people such as Jason Bateman and Kristin Davis, although the leads are Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau. One wonders how long they can keep riding the reputation of Swingers while making mediocrity like this. It's rated PG-13 for sexual content and language.

For something dark, try Big Fan. Patton Oswalt goes serious for his first lead as an unlovable loser who's really big into the New York Giants. As he works in a parking garage and lives with his mother, obsessing with football is all he really has. When he gets into a altercation with the team's star player, his life and his mind start spiraling further downward.

The film is directed by The Wrestler's scripter and has some of the same themes of quiet desperation. Oswalt captures the dark side well and the film's focus is tight enough to serve as a nifty character study. Big Fan is rated R for language and some sexuality.
