3 packages chocolate chips
3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 pound butter
4 1/2 cups sugar
1 can evaporated milk
In a large bowl, mix together the chocolate chips, vanilla and softened butter. Then, in a large saucepan, bring to boil the evaporated milk and sugar, stirring until it comes to boil. Then let boil for five minutes (do not stir during this time). Remove from heat and immediately pour into the mixing bowl with the other ingredients. Stir until all the chips are melted and mixture is smooth.
Pour into buttered pan. Note that this recipe makes five pounds and will turn out better if you pour it into a cookie sheet with sides.

Gift giving idea: select a large Christmas cookie cutter, the kind open on both sides. Place on buttered wax paper and slide fudge filled cutter into a cellophane bag. Tie with holiday ribbon. After fudge is gone, the Christmas cookie cutter may be used for another time.
