MAMMOTH SPRING, Ark. -- Emergency crews are working a train derailment on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe line. The accident closed the state park next to U.S. 63 just south of the Missouri line.
Adam Davis, a state park employee, sent this picture. Thirteen cars jumped the tracks about 3:45 a.m. Two of them ended up in Spring Lake.
Davis says the boxcars and flat cars weren't carrying hazardous materials. He says it appears one northbound train separated and part of its cars rolled backward into an oncoming northbound train.
