Many people across the Ozarks will be checking for storm damage this morning. We received reports of scattered power outages in Camdenton and El Dorado Springs, and trees uprooted in Jericho Springs, Wheatland, and Waynesville.

In Springfield, strong winds and powerful thunderstorms caused Emergency Managment officials to set off storm sirens. There are no reports of tornadoes in the KY3 area.

Money issues on the ballots got mixed results in a few Ozark counties.
--- Voters in the Aurora area shot down a proposal to create a bi-county rural fire district.
---Residents rejected an increase in the hotel-motel tax in Lake of the Ozarks Business District.
--- In Howell County, three out of four voters said yes to the funding of a fire district around Brandsville.
--- A city sales tax for capital improvements was approved in Houston.

Drivers can expect delays today on a stretch of road in Christian County. Crews will be repairing Highway NN between Missouri 14 in Ozark and the Greene County line. The work runs from 7 to 5 today and tomorrow, weather permitting. The speed limit will be lowered to 45.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Attorney General Jay Nixon joined attorneys general from 10 other states in ask the California Supreme Court to delay the effective date of its ruling that legalizes same-sex marriages. The attorneys general say California should wait until November, when its voters decide on a ballot measure that would overturn the ruling. He's concerned Missourians will wrongly think they can get married in California and have it recognized in Missouri.

Missourians approved a constitutional amendment in 2004 that bans official recognition of same-sex marriages.

LITTLE ROCK (AP) - State lawmakers recommend Arkansas increase school funding by nearly $60 million a year to pay for salary increases and the costs of instructional materials. A legislative panel also vowed to find a way to help schools struggling with rising gasoline prices.
