VERSAILLES, Mo. -- A 17-year-old from Versailles drowned in Morgan County.
The Missouri Water Patrol says Timothy Lancaster was swimming with his family at a pond on Sunday. When he didn't show up for lunch, they searched the property for several hours. Lancaster's father went into the pond, where he found the body about 5:30 p.m.

SPRINGFIELD -- U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt, R-Springfield, likely will officially endorse U.S. Rep. Kenny Hulshof, R-Columbia, for governor on Monday. Hulshof and Blunt are scheduled to make the announcement during stops in Springfield, Joplin and Mt. Vernon.
Hulshof and State Treasurer Sarah Steelman are battling for the Republican Party's nomination for governor in the primary election on Aug. 5.

Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama will be in the Kansas City area on Monday. He's scheduled to make a campaign stop in Independence. The event at the Truman Memorial Building is free and open to the public.
Obama's campaign managers say Missouri was a battleground in the primary election in February and they expect it to be the same for the general election in November.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A U.S. Park Ranger is injured and a 23-year-old
man is dead after an incident near the grounds of the Gateway Arch
in St. Louis early Sunday. Police said the ranger was run down
by a vehicle carrying suspected vandals but he was able to fire
several rounds at the fleeing car. The driver suffered several
gunshot wounds and died at a hospital.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) -- A smoking ban at the University of
Arkansas at Fayetteville goes into effect on Tuesday. The campus
joins the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the
University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, the University of Arkansas at
Fort Smith, North Arkansas College in Harrison and Southern
Arkansas University Tech in Camden in banning smoking on campus.
