This afternoon Governor Matt Blunt will sign a bill into law to lower the legal blood alcohol level on Missouri lakes and rivers.
It will drop from point-one-oh... to point-zero-eight percent.
The law will also set a night time speed limit of 30 miles per hour on the water..
and requires boaters to slow down around water patrol or other emergency vessels.
The law takes effect August 28th.
The bill signing ceremony will take place at Lake of the Ozarks this afternoon.
The Water Patrol is searching for a 22-year-old man who might have drowned in Lake of the Ozarks.
Bradley Burns of Osage Beach was fishing with friends on a dock near Warsaw yesterday morning.
The friends left the dock...but Burns stayed behind. They told officers that they never saw him go into the water.
A Lebanon letter carrier killed during flash flooding will be honored today.
Steve Alley was delivering mail near the town of Sleeper last august when rising water swept his truck off the road.
The 51 year old's body was found downstream.
The "Steve Alley" Carrier Annex will be dedicated this afternoon in Lebanon.
STEELVILLE, Mo. (AP) - A Missouri teenager has drowned after her
canoe capsized on the Meramec River and trapped her underneath it.
The Missouri State Water Patrol identified the victim as
18-year-old Ashley Davis of Butler. Friends turned the canoe over
and pulled Davis out of the water, but their efforts to revive her
failed.
NEW YORK (AP) - Outside magazine has named Columbia the
tenth-best U.S. town to live in. The publication puts out the list
every year with a different theme -- this year's was "civic
renovation." The magazine cites many of Columbia's restaurants,
outdoor activities, festivals and entertainment.
