SPRINGFIELD -- A woman has sued Wal-Mart, local health officials and CoxHealth Systems. Debby Rose claims they discriminated against her and her monkey, Richard. The lawsuit claims the woman's monkey helps curb her social anxiety disorder. The suit contends Springfield-Greene County Health Department officials lack the authority to rule the monkey is not a service animal.

SPRINGFIELD -- City police are looking for the man who stabbed a man in the chest early Thursday. The attackwas in the 700 block of South Lafontaine Avenue, south of College Street.

An ambulance took the 22-year old victim to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say the stabber knows the victim; he fled in a burgundy four-door car.

SPRINGFIELD -- City fire marshals are looking for the cause of a fire at a gollf course clubhouse and restaurant. Firefighters got the call just before 10 p.m. Wednesday about the fire in the kitchen at Millwood Golf and Racquet Club. Two firefighters were hit with falling sheetrock; they weren't seriously hurt.

The latest list of top cities for stolen cars is out. Modesto, Cal., was the number one city in car thefts last year, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau. It's followed by Las Vegas, San Diego, Stockton, Cal., and San Francisco.

In Missouri, Kansas City ranked 24th, St. Louis 76th and Springfield came in 108th. The top car targeted by thieves in Missouri is the 2000 Dodge Intrepid.

You can see new designs for the perimeter of Springfield's Park Central Square on Thursday. City officials are showing off the sketches from 5 to 7 p.m. at the branch library on the square. The design calls for sidewalk improvements and new lighting.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) -- The Miss Arkansas pageant continues here. Wednesday night, Miss White River Chanley Painter won the preliminary talent award; Miss University of Central Arkansas Sarah Slocum won the preliminary evening gown award, and Miss Spirit of Arkansas Ashlen Batson won the preliminary swimsuit award.
