There's no school today for students in the Phelps County Edgar Springs R3 district. Power is out in the building.

(AP) - A southwest Missouri school district has suspended a seventh-grader until she changes the color of her hair. Mountain Grove Middle School student Amelia Robbins dyed her hair pink to honor of her father, who recently died of cancer. She says that to her, pink is the cancer color. School officials say they have authority to make such decisions.

A hearing this afternoon will hopefully give three Webster County Southern Commission candidates some closure from the August fifth primary. Only *four votes separated the republican winner and second place when the votes were tallied. The Webster County Clerk discovered about ten people voted in the wrong district.

The Newburg emergency manager says it may be a few days before a boil order is lifted. People need to boil all drinking and cooking water as a safety precaution. The order was issued after a water pump failed yesterday.

(AP) - Triple-A says Missouri's gasoline prices are the lowest in the nation. The auto club's Fuel Gauge Report for today puts Missouri's average at $3.46 a gallon, down 2 cents from yesterday. Springfield prices are the lowest for a Missouri city at $3.34, the St. Louis average is $3.40 and Kansas City's is $3.60. The state average a year ago was $2.70 a gallon.

ST. LOUIS (AP) - A lawyer for a Missouri woman accused of having a role in an Internet hoax that allegedly led a 13-year-old girl to kill herself is seeking the girl's medical and mental health records. Lori Drew's attorney alleges that Megan Meier's medication was switched shortly before her death and that may have caused the girl's suicide.

Missouri native Sheryl Crow is giving away free music - a tactic she calls the "Tupperware" party approach to inspiring young people to vote. The Grammy Award-winning singer announced a plan to give a digital copy of her album "Detours" to the first 50,000 people who register three friends to vote. "I hope people wake up and emotionally engage in issues," Crow told The Associated Press in a telephone interview during a visit to Los Angeles.
