SPRINGFIELD -- Some vegetables are packed with vitamins that could help you feel better faster. Here are the recommended daily amounts from St. John’s Health System dietician Adam Pruett:

Vitamin C
o 1-8 yrs old = 15-25 mg/day
o 9-13 yrs old (male & female) = 45 mg/day
o 14-70 yrs old (male & female) = 75-90 mg/day
o Pregnant Women = 80-85 mg/day

Vitamin A
o 1-8 yrs old = 300-400 mcg/day
o 9-70 yrs old (male & female) = 600-900 mcg/day
o Pregnant Women = 750-770 mcg/day

Vitamin E
o 1-8 yrs old = 6-7 mg/day
o 9-70 yrs old (male & female) = 11-15 mg/day
o Pregnant Women= 15 mg/day

Zinc
o 1-8 yrs old = 3-5 mg/day
o 9-70 yrs old (male and female) = 8-11 mg/day
o Pregnant Women = 11-13 mg/day
