SPRINGFIELD -- Something polling officials will be watching for this election is whether the flu will keep people away.

Some of the school buildings where voters cast their ballots were closed a few weeks ago due to kids being out with the flu. We'll have to wait and see whether that will affect the numbers on Tuesday.

So, new this election, officials have had to think of contingency plans because of the widespread flu.

"If voters are sick on election day, obviously you don't want to go, or you don't feel like going anywhere, so the best idea is to stay home," said Greene County Clerk Richard Struckhoff.

Struckhoff says, if you are sick and you really want to vote, he asks that you wear a mask and go at slow times. The times you will want to avoid going to vote if you are sick are right before work, the lunch hour, and right after work.
