Pictures: Friday morning power outage in south Springfield
A car hit a utility pole on Walnut Lawn Street, a couple of blocks west of Campbell, on Friday morning. Emergency responders say the driver may have had a medical episode before the crash. Power was knocked out to nearby homes and businesses, including the Walmart store. The car stopped before it rammed into a home. The vehicle collision that took out the pole started the outage at about 10:40 a.m.; power was restored to all customers by about 1:30 p.m. - 2,000 customers were impacted.
