Pictures: Springfield Art Museum trees marked for removal
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Early Friday morning, people from the Phelps Grove neighborhood came out to meet with an urban forester who had marked 15 trees around the Springfield Art Museum to be removed. Many local residents were concerned that the removal of the trees would dramatically alter the appearance of the landscape, and some even have lived in the neighborhood long enough that they remembered growing up playing under the same trees. Many of the trees have grown old and several are diseased, creating safety concerns.
