Swiss pharmaceutical giant Novartis AG posted a 7 percent increase in third-quarter net profit Tuesday, as it announced 2,000 job cuts in an effort to save $200 million annually. Novartis said it earned $2.49 billion during the period, up from $2.32 billion last year.
