NEOSHO, Mo. -- A man from Nixa
faces more sex abuse charges as a multi-county investigation spreads.
Newton County prosecutors charged Larry Savage on Tuesday with misusing a
17-year-old woman last spring.
Savage already faces sex crimes
charges in
Webster and Christian counties. The new charges add to a pattern of abuse that investigators
say stretched over the last five years.
According to a probable cause
statement filed with the charges here, Savage took the 17-year-old woman to the
motel in Joplin on June 15, where they met up with a 20-year-old man.
The investigator says Savage, the woman and the 20-year-old man had been
in contact over the telephone and the Internet to set up the meeting.
In the probable cause
statement, the investigator says Savage directed the man and the woman to have
sexual intercourse while he videotaped it. He says Savage knew the woman was only 17 because he had a
long-term personal relationship with her.
Newton County Prosecuting Attorney Scott Watson charged Savage with abuse
of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor, both felonies.
Savage posted bail after he was arrested in Christian County.
He likely will be in court here next week.
Savage is charged in Christian
County with two counts of statutory rape, one count of statutory sodomy, use of
a child in a sexual performance, and promoting a sexual performance by a child.
Those cases have been moved to Taney County to try to ensure a fair
outcome. There’s a status hearing
on those cases scheduled for Feb. 9.
Savage is charged in Webster
County with use of a child in a sexual performance, promoting a sexual
performance by a child, and abuse of a child. A jury trial is scheduled for July for those charges.
