ROLLA, Mo. -- A well-known retired professor at University of Missouri-Rolla is charged with sex crimes, some of which investigators say happened nearly four decades ago.  Court documents show some of the crimes for which Oliver Manuel Sr. is charged happened on campus.

Manuel is a professor emeritus and a former chair of the chemistry department.  He still has a UMR office, which is where officers arrested him on Tuesday.

Phelps County prosecutors charged Manuel with two counts of rape, four counts of sodomy and one count of attempted sodomy.  Four adult relatives said Manuel molested them between 1967 and 1990 when they were children and teenagers.
