OZARK, Mo. -- The lawyer for a man from Nixa who is accused of more than 20 sex crimes with children in four counties said Wednesday afternoon that he expected his client to be out of jail by that night. A judge set a $25,000 bond for Larry Savage on the latest charge against him, sexual exploitation of a minor, and ordered him to appear in court again on Oct. 25 for a preliminary hearing.
Christian County sheriff’s deputies hoped a judge would not set a bond, keeping Savage in jail until he’s tried. Savage surrendered on Tuesday afternoon after deputies spent several days looking for him with an arrest warrant.
Savage faces charges in Christian,
Webster, Newton
and Greene
counties for acts with girls and adults that investigators say started several years ago. Prosecutors say some of the crimes, at least in Greene County, occurred while Savage was out on bond for the previously charged crimes. The latest Christian County charge resulted from continuing investigation of previous charges as prosecutors prepare for a trial, scheduled for Nov. 13 in Taney County to try to ensure a fair outcome. A preliminary hearing
on the charges in Greene County is set for Nov. 14. A trial is scheduled in Webster County on Dec. 4. The case in Newton County has no trial scheduled. Any or all of the dates could change.
