Agents from the Social Security Administration's Office of Inspector General were part of the raiding party.
Fedeal agents say most of the people who were arrested are from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. They were still being interviewed on Tuesday afternoon. Those suspected of being illegal immigrants will be taken to jails in Wichita, Kan.; Kansas City, Mo.; and St. Louis, Mo. They eventually will have hearings before federal immigration judges in Kansas City.
Children of some of the detainees may become wards of the state Children's Division office in Barry County. ICE agents may release some of the detainees for medical reasons or because they need to take care of children. Those who are released would be ordered to appear before an immigration judge on a certain date.
Relatives of people who are detained can call ICE's toll-free family hotline, 866-341-3858, to get information about the detention and removal process.
