WEST PLAINS, Mo. -- The Howell County Sheriff’s Department released a drawing of a man who posed as a police officer and stopped two women on rural roads this month.  The fake cop raped the first woman but the second one managed to fight off her attacker and run away.

The sheriff’s department says the rapist is white, about 5-foot-8, has a stocky build, short sandy blond-brown hair, may have scratches or injuries on his eyes and head, and may drive a light or tan colored car similar to a Ford Crown Victoria, a model used by many law enforcement agencies.  His car had a red and blue light on the dash.

The first attack was shortly after 10 p.m. on June 5 just of U.S. 160, three miles west of West Plains.  The second attack was around 10:30 p.m. on June 10 on Highway CC, five miles west of West Plains.
